The theory of writing consists of many factors. I took several English classes, and this phrase was always brought up at the end of the semester. My goal is to always improve my way of writing, I don’t really follow the rules of writing and just write the way I feel is just. The only thing that seems to matter to me is the attempt to express my mind. The theory of Writing isn’t the product but the progression of one’s skills in writing.
Overall, from my experience in the subject of writing and reading, I never liked it or was ever my strength before in time. I have a lot of needs to work on, room temperature must be not too cold or warm. The noise level must be almost none and music must be playing. I can’t be hungry, and I need to listen to the sounds of keyboards. I find it harder to start writing when it comes to typing because you don’t really do much work, writing on paper feels easier as you develop the pain in your hand, and that reminds you that you’re working. Writing requires a lot from me alone, but for everyone, it always starts in the brain.
I hope to change my ways and become a better writer than the day before. Procrastination is my biggest enemy, the same goes for memory. Memory contributes to knowing vocabulary and vocabulary is the only thing in writing that makes me interested in improving. The biggest thing to help me get good grades on writing is from samples/models. Without them, I am slightly lost and unsure of how to write. I only write for assignments, that’s where samples are needed for me. In some cases, they aren’t necessary only if the criteria are very specific and very descriptive for the assignment.
In all my assignments for this class, I have never done well. Everything is below a B; it disappoints me because I was looking forward to this class. The best part of my work is the cover letter and maybe only because it was the simplest assignment in the semester. I followed all instructions and did the format almost correctly. It seemed reasonable enough to get an easy A but sadly that wasn’t the case. All my reflections did poorly overall, yes reflections that have no wrong answers. I know it was because of the requirements I didn’t follow from time to time, but reflection is supposed to reflect on how I felt about the assignment and not only on certain following. The last assignment I had to do, which was the Proposal, was a complete disaster as my group members didn’t even want to talk to each other. Nobody was able to come up with any ideas for our presentation as well.
This class opened my eyes to show how much improvement I need to make. Going beyond should be my standard instead of just getting work done to just be done with. Hopefully, I don’t have to retake this class, but I will retake it with the same Professor as she is a good person, but it is just the way I handled the work. Writing takes patience and practice. The first attempt is never the best so that’s why there are drafts and peer review.
